Mechanical Engineer

Reports to SVP, Data Center Design

Job Description

A professional engineer (PE) and subject matter expert in mechanical engineering with design experience focusing on data center cooling topologies regarding High Density and High-Performance compute cooling applications. Acute understanding in design of direct to chip liquid cooling applications.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, construct, and implementation of all mechanical systems and cooling topologies supporting Core Scientific BTC Mining and HPC data center facilities.
  • Provide expert guidance and decision-making within the organization and collaborate with other relevant groups on the design, construction, and subsequent operations of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and controls.
  • Facilitate communication and knowledge-sharing among cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure that mechanical design and construction decisions are informed by data-driven analysis and promptly communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or advanced degree and experience required.
  • 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Professional Engineer or EIT with proven detailed experience.
  • Proven professional experience in mechanical engineering design, project planning, and construction, focusing on data center mechanical systems, specifically high-density and high-performance computing applications and cooling topologies.
  • Clear understanding and aptitude in direct to chip, immersion, rear door heat exchanger, cold plate, and all cooling topologies utilized throughout the compute cooling industry.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk, CAD, Revit, and relative industry-leading and common software platforms.
  • Certification in project/process/program management or equivalent is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Ability to work autonomously on projects and initiatives, identifying and solving problems effectively.
  • Availability to participate in meetings across multiple time zones and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Able to travel 50% of the time.

    This job operates in a remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, smartphones, etc.

    The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Travel

    Travel 50% of the time.
